Cabins for Rent

I am looking for a cabin to rent this summer.  Does anyone have any recommendations?  We are pretty open for location, price etc. so anything will help!

Thanks!

Re: Cabins for Rent

  • I have had good luck in the past with vrbo.com.

  • We've rented cabins in Ely.  Big Lake Wilderness Lodge is on a huge lake down a long gravel road without any other resorts or places in site.  It was so incredibly peaceful and relaxing.  Cabins were nice, good amenities, etc. I think you can canoe into the BWCA from the resort.

Echo Trail Outfitters is closer to town, on a nice lake across from a campground and swimming beach. The cabin was great - right on the lake, chiminea on the deck overlooking the lake, super clean cabins, wonderful and gracious owners.

We hated Timber Trail Lodge.  The lake was busy and noisy with boats, the other guests were obnoxious, the cabin was small and got super hot and stuffy on a normal summer day.  There was dog fur all over the porch and some in the cabin, which even grossed me out and I have a dog that we brought with.  I went to the lodge to get matches for us and 3 cabins next to us around 8:30 pm and the owner (I think it was the owner anyway) seemed super annoyed with me because he was watching t.v.  That's just the tip of the iceberg.

My sister and BIL went to Burntside in Ely and loved it.

You can sometimes find reviews of cabins and resorts on tripadvisor.  We've rented through VRBO and Homeaway in other states and Mexico with good luck, too.

  • I always rent off vrbo.com too. We have for the past 2 summers for our girls weekend - this year I found a great place in Duluth for 7 girls for $128 for 2 nights and the place looks awesome.

    Good luck!

  • Are you looking for a resort or an individual cabin/lake home owner who rents their place?

My parents have had really good luck finding people who rent their cabins/lake places out for a week. In addition to vrbo.com I think the website my Dad usually uses is lakeplace.com.
