Itunes causing laptop to crash

Has anyone else had this problem?

I don't know if it's coincidence or if it is Itunes causing it, but 4 times in a row that I've installed Itunes about 3 days later my laptop crashes in some way or the other. The first time I let it go on long enough that it actually killed my hard drive (not knowing what was happening, thought it was a virus so that's what I was looking for) and this last time I couldn't use my mousepad and my internet explorer would not open/work until I uninstalled everything Apple related on my computer. Before I uninstalled it though, I kept restarting it trying to get it to fix itself or something (yes I am terrible with computers) and got a black screen asking me to reinstall Windows..so I restarted it again and it went to my normal login screen where I uninstalled everything.

It's really frustrating since I do have the Iphone and would like to sync it at least once a month and feel like it's stupid that I would have to install/uninstall every time I want to sync it.

If anyone has had this problem, please comment and let me know what your solution was :D And sorry if this is all a jumbled hard to read mess, in a hurry lol, thanks in advance

Re: Itunes causing laptop to crash

  • What operating system are you running? Windows 7?

Don't understand - "first time...it actually killed my hard drive."  What did you do to recover the computer and/or your files?  Did you reformat the entire drive?  Start from scratch and re-install everything?  Or apply an image to resurrect all your information.

These sorts of stability issues aren't normal.  Make certain you have all your important documents, photos, music backed up.  While iTunes may be triggering the issue, its sounds like a broader registry or hardware problem.

I'm running Windows Vista, and my computer was under warranty so I got a replacement hard drive. All my files/pictures were lost with it. It came with Windows already installed on it but other than that, my computer was wiped clean.

Thank you for your reply, I think tomorrow I will take it in and see if they can find anything else wrong with it
