***Penny Pie*** Re: Summer Programs

Hey! First, thanks for giving me mastitis advice via Shea. Dude, IT SUCKED!

Neena and I will be hangin' out quite a bit this summer so I've done some research. Polk County Conservation has a lot of great programs that are free! They should have their spring and summer schedules out soon.  Here's a link to all of their Nature News' so you can an idea of what they do, http://www.conservationboard.org/Pages/naturenews.aspx

Metro Arts usually has some really awesome programs throughout the summer in a variety of locations. Their GreenArts program is amazing! All free. I don't know when their summer schedule comes out. http://www.metroarts.org/

The City of Des Moines Parks and Rec Department always has a lot going on, too. I'm on their website quite a bit during the summer. You can follow them on facebook too.

We also plan on hitting up lots of wading pools, hiking, visiting new parks, going to the zoo, doing nature art, gardening, bird watching,etc... You and Sawyer should consider joining us every once in awhile. :-)

  • I hope Oliver can join you guys some times!  I would love for him to be able to do more this summer.  I'm also planning on taking at least one day off a month for something fun!  Yay for summer!
