Coffee Maker Dilemna: to thermal or not to thermal
We are making some completion purchases on our wedding gift registry and are in a bit of a quandry about which coffee maker to buy.
We had originally selected a thermal carafe-style Cusinart, put read some reviews and have learned that many users reported that the coffee was cold, or didn't stay warm very long.
Any thoughts, experiences or recommendations?
Re: Coffee Maker Dilemna: to thermal or not to thermal
I have a single-serve Keurig B70 and love it.
Whether that appeals to you probably depends on how much coffee you two drink, what you'll want for guests, etc.
Try posting on What's Cooking. You'll get a bunch more replies.

I used to have a Starbucks brand thermal coffee maker, and it kept the coffee nice and hot for about 3 hours.
The downside to that coffee pot was, it had a problem where occasionally it would get clogged and then instead of brewing the coffee into the thermal carafe like it was supposed to, it would brew it all over my countertop!
I ended up figuring out that it was a problem with the carafe lid. But after a few times of that happening, I got rid of it.
Now I would say - buy one coffeemaker, and one thermal carafe separately. First brew in the regular coffeemaker, and then as soon as it's done brewing pour it into the carafe.
Problem solved :-).
I own a DeLonghi drip coffee maker (non-thermal,) a Bodum French press, a coffee bean grinder whose brand I can't remember. I love coffee, but found all of these to be fairly time consuming to prep and clean, so I barely use any of them.
Got a Keurig for Christmas and I use it every day. It's completely rid me of my daily $4 Starbucks latte habit, which saves me a good chunk of change every month. The K-cups work out to about 40-50 cents a cup,, so they're super affordable. Pour in the water, pop in a cup and I have hot delicious coffee in about 35 seconds. No need to worry about it getting cold because I make it by the cup. I couldn't be happier. Love the ease of use, the lack of clean-up, the varieties of coffee, etc. H wanted to register for one of these for our wedding last year and I resisted thinking it was just a trendy gimmick. Finally, I gave in and we got one from my parents and I think it's pretty awesome.
Have you checked any of these out?
We also have a B70 and we love it.
Prior, we had a Cuisinart Brew Central coffee maker w/the regular carafe and it kept coffee hot just fine. I'd set it to brew at 5:15 am for DH, and at 7:30 by the time I was up it was already shut off but the coffee was still hot enough to drink (not steaming fresh hot, but comfortably hot so you wouldn't burn yourself.) So i'm guessing that the thermal carafe version would only keep the coffee hotter, longer.
