The people at FSCJ are *** incompetent! In the time DH has been there they have consistently screwed up his paperwork, not returned phone calls, etc, but today takes the cake.
DH is starting at UNF this summer, but graduated with his AA from FSCJ in December. He was told he could take classes toward his degree at FSCJ this Spring and they put his financial aid through, etc. Well, we've been waiting for his refund for 3 months to put the cost of books back into our savings.
I call today to ask why it's been pushed back again and they tell us he never actually qualified for aid because he wasn't degree-seeking (even though we were told 10 times that he qualified) so instead of a disbursement, we're going to receive a $1400 bill which has to be paid in 30 days. I was irate.
The woman even had the audacity to say to me "well, it was his responsibility to know that he didn't qualify since he was non-degree seeking." Excuse me? How the was he supposed to know that when 3 of YOUR employees told him he qualified and APPROVED his *** loan? I about lost it on this woman.
I asked her why we weren't notified and she said "well, we've had some issues on our end so we hadn't gotten around to it yet, but you would have gotten the bill and then you would have known." Are you *** kidding me? I'm shaking I'm so angry right now.
Oh, and I think at least one person on this board may work at FSCJ, so I'm sorry if I offend you. I'm sure you're perfectly competent, and that you work with people who are, but our experience has been that for every 15 incompetent people we deal with, we find 1 who knows what they're doing and what just happened is completely unacceptable.
Re: $%@%$#%$^% re: FSCJ
My experiences with other schools have all been positive but I have heard of other people who had negative experiences where I attended. I have to say though that UNF is incredibly more organized than FSCJ. Chris has so much detailed information about what classes he needs, all the things he needs to do, etc. That kind of information would take 5 trips (with a wait of approx 1-2 hours each time) at FSCJ, and then they'd still give him the wrong information.
I plan on it.
I agree with DP. The financial aid dept here at UNF isn't the best, but I'm glad it has been better! I would be so irate!! I have heard that more often than not from students transferring from there.
What is your H majoring in at UNF?
Nutrition and Dietetics
They did the SAME thing to me my last semseter! I was a Pell Grant student, and, after everything had been approved and I had already taken the classes, I was sent a bill.
My biggest thing was, when I didn't pay for the classes by the due date, why wasn't I just dropped? Why let me go a whole semester of not paying you and then give the bill at the end?
This was a year ago, and when I got the bill, I essentially told them to suck it. Which is super mature of me.
That was what I said! How did he not get dropped from the classes? It's ridiculous. Oh, and I think telling them to suck it was a perfectly appropriate, and mature response. Now that I think about it, I totally remember you posting about this last year but didn't think of it until now. They're giant asshats.
