XBOX vs PLAYSTATION vs Wii
My husand and I are trying to decide what to get. I like the new Kinetics games that are out because you don't have to hold a remote, but heard that it's not all that great. He likes guitar hero. Also, heard that Kinect might not be out for very long, that it's not going to survive. Can anyone give us some advice to help us decide?
Thanks!

Team Xbox!
Kinect just won the Guinness World Record for the fastest selling consumer electronics device -- http://community.guinnessworldrecords.com/_Kinect-Confirmed-As-Fastest-Selling-Consumer-Electronics-Device/blog/3376939/7691.html?as=7691
Trust me when I say it is going to stick around. It's also super fun (get Dance Central!) and more stuff is coming out for it all the time.
Guitar Hero and Rock Band are both available for all three gaming systems, so if that's the primary interest then you could get any of them. I'm not a big gamer but I love my Xbox but that's because I use it for lots of other stuff than just playing video games. We use it as a Windows Media Center extender, a way to stream Netflix, and a way to play movies and music through the Zune marketplace. The only thing it can't do is play Blu-Rays, but since I'm getting most of my movies streamed online anyway that is a non-issue for me.

We have all three. We by far use our PS3 the most because my husband likes the graphics better, but mainly we use it for Netflix.
I like the dance central game on Kinect and that is about all. We only use our wii for fitness games and Mario. HTH
PS can also be used as a blu ray player which is a plus.
Not sure where you heard the Kinect was going away - see PP's link.
We got rid of the wii a while ago, the novelty wore off and we didn't use it.
Guitar hero works a lot better on either the 360 or the PS3. We currently have both the 360 and the PS3. DH uses the 360 the most (but he plays the Halo series) and we have the Kinect for it. Having had both the WII and the Kinect, I find the Kinect easier to use, only downfall it doesn't work well in small rooms and the Zumba game sucks - I blame the developers of the game, not the device for that one. The PS3 gets used mostly for the BluRay, and DH has a couple of games that are exclusive to the PS3 that he plays. He also has a few that are only on the 360.
Cancer sucks.
I think it depends on what type of games you play. We prefer the Mario games, so we have a Wii. We're not really into games like Halo, Call of Duty, etc so the Wii is the best choice for us, but if you or your H play games like that, a PS3 might be a good option since it doubles as a BluRay player. We also use our Wii to stream Netflix but all of the consoles have that ability.
A friend of mine has a Kinect and he said that it requires a huge amount of space to play, which is a drawback for me but may not be for others. He basically has to rearrange his living room whenever he wants to use it, but he says it's a lot of fun and completely worth it, to him. I would probably try it out at a friend's house before buying one (which is actually what we did with the Wii).
Everything the light touches is my kingdom.
We have a PS3 and an XBox360 (that DH won in a GuitarHero contest). We hardly ever use the XBox. I like the PS3's lighter-weight controllers, and the Blu-Ray player is a huge bonus. We recently got the PlayStation Move, but we haven't used it too much. We did buy TimeCrisis for it and had a little fun reliving our arcade shoot-em-up days! And Little Big Planet is almost worth the PS3 on its own! I love it! We just bought Little Big Planet 2, and I can't wait to play it!
At work we have a PS3 and a Wii. I find that the Wii is more of a party game. It's fun with a group, but I don't think I'd use it as much alone.
PS - EdieLaura, I loooove your little calico! She's so cute!
