Earthquake in Japan... Stumpy

I had DH map out the distance from the epicenter to where Stumpy lives. He says it is about 170 miles distance. Tokyo was shaking pretty good and they are about 230 miles from the epicenter. Lets hope she is safe and sound from any tsunami.

Yes, absolutely!! There have been two 6.5 or higher ones since the 8.8 one, too.

I have a friend in Tokyo and he said the damages in his area was pretty bad. I hope Stumpy is ok and remains safe!

Glad to hear you were far enough away, Stumpy! Update us when you can. Fingers crossed that the aftershocks and further damage happen in the middle of the freaking ocean and far away from you!

Glad she and her husband are safe!

My cousin and his wife and two kids live in Japan (in Nagano, which is around 250 miles west of Sendai, which is near the epicenter). They said they felt it, although not strongly enough to even wake their two young children from their naps. They are okay, and have power, gas, etc. Although his wife is kind of freaked out. 

My thoughts are definitely with the people affected. They were mentioning on the news this morning that this quake would be approximately 900 times more powerful than Loma Prieta (which was 6.9). Yikes!

I'm so glad to hear Stumpy, her DH and those here with family in Japan are all safe. I just can't believe people here in CA are making such a big stink about our "tsunami" when the people in Japan are being severely affected. My heart goes out to those across the Pacific.

i'm glad to hear they are safe as well!  i came on first thing after i opened the nytimes to check on her.

Glad to hear Stumpy is okay. I was worried about her and my friend from K-12 that now lives in Japan and I feel better knowing they are safe. My thoughts go out to those who have suffered from this earthquake.

She checked in again about an hr ago. She says they still have no power or phone and her cell phone was out of charge but they're fine.
