Dress opinions please!

DH and I have a wedding to go to beginning of April that will be at the Mote Aquarium (6pm wedding). http://tinyurl.com/4hxzb9d

I found a dress similar to this one at a consignment store last night
http://www.apeainthepod.com/Product.asp?product_Id=657340023&MasterCategory_Id=MC3

The only difference with the dress I got is that on the front neck part and straps have a ruffle detail and the empire wasit doesn't have that big band, but has loops for where I assume it had a belt or some sort of tie at one time.

I was thinking that I could either get some black ribbon to match (or maybe another color) and possibly some sort of flower pin and use that to decorate the front a little more.  Do you think that would look stupid?  Do you think this dress is appropriate for the place/time?

Re: Dress opinions please!

  • I'd do a ribbon/belt/tie in a color but I think the dress is fine! I'd take a wrap/shawl/pashmina with me too just in case you get cold.

  • Definitely appropriate. A sash or cute flower pinned on would look cute, and though pregnancy has me running hot all the time, a shawl/cardigan isn't a bad idea in a brighter, cute color. Or colored pumps.

  • Cute!  I don't think it needs a belt or anything personally.  Unless the loops are really obvious?  Then I'd just do a simple, skinny belt in a black or neutral with no flowers.  I'd wear it with a colored cardigan.
  • Thanks ladies!  Looks like I need to go shopping for a cardigan and some heels to create a pop of color.
