I'll be in Huntsville at the end of the month for a week for training. What is there
To do in the evening after I get out of training? Shopping? Must see sight seeing?
Re: Huntsville. What to do?
The Space and Rocket Center is really the big "tourist-y" sightseeing thing here. I believe it's $20 admission. Seeing the Saturn V rocket is really impressive, and the whole how we got to the moon thing is interesting, though I got bored with reading the exhibits eventually. Another good sightseeing place is Burritt on the Mountain, an old mansion museum which really nice views of the city.
The nicest shopping area I'd have to say is the Bridge Street Town Center. There's a good movie theater with a bar, nice restaurants, and probably the more expensive stores in town. I think there's a bowling alley? And a man-made lake with gondola rides. The other good mall is Parkway Place.
The downtown area has Big Spring Park, which is pretty to walk around but not a lot to do. The art museum which is right on the park has a little restaurant that is supposed to have really good pizza. But other than some restaurants, I don't think there is much to downtown (anybody feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I don't go there much!)
We have a botanical garden but I'm not sure what they've got going on in March.
There's not a terribly huge amount of fun things to do around here, to be honest. At least, I've been here 13 years and haven't found a whole lot, haha.
