Yay, Work Trip!

One of our full time engineers came in my office yesterday came in and asked if anyone wanted to go to a regional conference in a few weeks. It's in Estes Park, CO! I'm so excited. I'm hoping we get time to see the mountains! It's just going to be a long drive across Nebraska... at least I'm picking up a state on DH. We have a friendly competition going to see who can get the most states it :)

Re: Yay, Work Trip!

  • Too funny!  I just came to this board because my husband just accepted a job in Iowa City so I was checking out who is here.  I am moving from Longmont, CO- just the next town over from Estes Park!  Kind of random! You'll love Estes- it is a bit of a tourist trap, but beautiful!  Be sure to go to Rocky Montain National Park!
  • I'm really excited to see the Rockies. My family went to Keystone when I was in high school so it's been awhile. I've been wanting to plan a trip since we moved here and I saw how "close" Colorado is, now it's a free trip at least!

  • Yeah for a work trip! Although... they are making you drive?

Has to be pretty, and the worst of winter is over, so you won't have to worry about snow (hopefully!)

  • Not sure when  you said you were going exactly, but if it makes you feel any better, the weather here in CO is beautiful!  It has been 55-68 degrees almost everyday- probably a few degrees cooler up in Estes.  Also definitely do a drive-by of the Stanley Hotel (where the Shining was inspired).  I also love the two wineries in town and Estes Park has a good brewery. Enjoy!
  • I'm on a research lab budget, not corporate so we have to drive :( It looks like it'll be about 12 hours so not too bad. Hopefully. My drive home is 9 hours and that never feels too bad. I'm getting immune to long drives.

The wineries sound good! I'm not sure how much downtime we're going to have but I'm really just hoping to get at least a short hike or two in.

    We're going April 7-10.
