So I contacted about 15 fence companies, and only two responded that they would come out. The first fence company came today, and told me that the area we want to cover is going to be very expensive. It is just the cleared part of our backyard. She also said that black aluminum 6 foot fence is almost as expensive as they vinyl. I am feeling really discouraged. If anyone has any recs for fence companies please let me know! Thanks.
Re: Fence
I feel your pain! We have a tiny back yard in the South End and the quotes we were getting were awful! Plus, we had a few people who totally blew us off.
We worked with Maksymilian Fence and were very happy. He came in with quotes that were lower than Home Depot and he knows what he is doing. He was very nice to work with, the crew was very neat and the fence looks amazing! Our neighbors ended up using him as well.

Good luck.
Thanks so much Ginger!
So I priced out fence materials, and the cost of hiring someone to come and just dig the fence posts for us. I figured DH and I could install the fence ourselves because I REALLY want a fence. I thought so much about how I would just never feel safe with DoggieCrushing out there with just an invisible fence, and really have my heart set on a fence-fence.
Anyways I just got our first quote, and it wasn't as bad as I thought. I am thinking I can talk them down a bit, and we may just hire them. I am super excited!
We took our house off the market right after Christmas after the house we wanted got bought. Our realtor said we would have to drop the price in spring, and we just didn't want to have to take a big loss. So we are back to staying put.
Oh I see. I didn't realize. Sorry it didn't work out, but from the few pics you've posted your current home looks lovely.
Thanks. We sort of had the attitude going into it that we would be happy either way. The house we had put the offer on though was our dream house. Unfortunately after they accepted our offer we found out that they were behind on the mortgage, and actually needed to do a short sale. We were still hoping to get it, but we had to unload this house....they ended up selling the house to another couple that didn't already have a home.
