I just woke up from a recovery nap. We have friends coming over for dinner tonight so I don't get to rest again until tomorrow.
We got there about an hour early. This was the first time my husband and I have ever ran in an event, so we didn't know what was normal. Definitely way too early since there was wind and light rain for the next hour. The weather stopped raining for us right when the race started and stayed clear until about 20 minutes after the race closed.
I didn't realize how cold I was until I started running. My hands were and feet were really numb. It was a pretty challenging course for a first 5k - 3 long hills. One at the beginning, in the middle and right (the most challenging) at the end! But I ran the whole thing and finished with a time of 32:10! Very happy with that! Although, I can't help but think "oh, I almost got under 32 minutes!" Next time. ![]()
My husband ran it in 19:40something and left with a 2nd place trophy for his age division. It was his first race too.
I'm already planning my next race to be an 8K in early May.
