Planting herbs in a topsy turvy?

Has anyone planted something in a topsy turvy besides tomatoes or peppers?  I was thinking about trying some herbs this year and was curious if anyone's tried that and what they recommend.  Thanks!

Re: Planting herbs in a topsy turvy?

  • I don't have a topsy turvy but I have a Down Under pot that is the same theory.

I have planted herbs in mine and they did fine.  Basil and cilantro, so far, but I'm sure others would too.  Add some water absorbing crystals to them because basil is a thirsty sucker and needs lots of water.  I used the inside of a clean diaper and added it to my soil. After googling it seemed to be the same stuff or similar, and I have a ton of diapers lying around! Smile

There is a pic of my Down Under pot here : http://unskinnyboppy.blogspot.com/2011/03/starting-from-scratch.html
