Toddler eating help!

I need help getting Ella to eat! Poor little bug has lost 2lbs! She wears a 4T for pants now, so I know she is getting tall, but she only weighs 31lbs! I am at a loss. I have been giving her pediasure or kid essentials daily and I even tried a cheeseburger for the calories and she wouldn't touch it. Last night I was bribing her to eat her veggie burger with tomatoes! For lunch lately she has only been choosing to eat raw veggies. She loves all things sugar, but I have been refusing sugar except milk and natural stuff because I don't want her to get sick! Any ideas to help me help her eat?

Re: Toddler eating help!

  • I'd do my best not to fight her. It's the one thing she can control. If she likes raw veggies, that's great. Have lots available in lots of different shapes, forms, etc.

Try dips: guac, hummus, maybe make a non-spicy salsa if she likes tomatoes. Make dips with blended up cottage cheese and ranch packets.

Maybe also get her involved in the kitchen, making the things she'll eat. I think you probably already do but thought i'd throw it out there.

Maybe some sandwich shapes with cookie cutters or you can hide a multitude of things in tortillas with cheese and make shapes from that too, or let her do it.

Ana is slightly pickier than Katen so sometimes she keeps me on my toes too.

  • Will she eat pasta with sauce? I have been making MrsReem's alfredo sauce for Aubrey's noodles except making it fattening: cream cheese, heavy whipping cream or half/half, and real butter.    Will she eat pancakes? If so, buy some "real" butter to put on them or maybe peanut butter..what about mashed potatoes? you can make those endlessly fattening..  good luck!

  • I was going to suggest trying different dips and letting her "make" her own food as well.  My niece was a super light eater, but if she had something to dip it in she would eat almost anything.
