How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

Re: Ask Me Anything
2.5 weeks. I found out the first day of my missed period, which was at 4 weeks.

I don't think she has any idea what's going on. We've been telling her she's going to be a big sister, and trying to get her to say "Big sister", which she says "BigSISTAH!" We've also asked her if she wants a little brother or sister, which does not get a response.
I do want to get her a realistic baby doll so she can practice being gentle. Practicing gentle with the cat isn't quite the same thing.

I have heard of it. It does not appear to be on my baby book bookshelf
I've read a few different "sleep help" books and they mostly just gave me anxiety because I felt like I was doing something wrong and setting up Mungee for a lifetime of sleep problems. My best advice when it comes to sleep help is do what works for you and your family.

If you were running for mayor, what would your agenda be?
You stay at home, right? How did you make that decision? Do you plan on going back to work eventually? If so, when?
If I'm totally wrong about the staying at home thing, how did you make the decision to go back to work?
I'm going to have to come back to this one, I think. I am probably the least politically-minded person on this board. (That's a roundabout way of saying I am unintentionally and embarrassingly ignorant).
I can say with confidence though that education reform would be extremely important. I recently read a blog post that a friend of mine wrote wherein he indicated that Duval Co. schools might be cutting their football programs this fall. I'm going to read more about this. Can you imagine the impact this will have on the athletes and their chances for college recruitment? Not to mention all the other students who are impacted (band, cheerleaders, dance team, etc.)
Okay, and while I'm at it ... I would really like Jacksonville to become a no-kill animal shelter town. There needs to be a lot more awareness for spaying and neutering and assistance for free or low-cost surgeries.

Least:
Nausea and morning sickness, which have been rearing their ugly heads over this past weekend.
Not being able to sleep well.
Lightning crotch.
The fear that I will not be able to wean Mungee at any time during this pregnancy and that I will be breastfeeding for the rest of my life (slight exaggeration).
Most:
The excitement of coming up with baby names. I think I already have our boy name, but I am having a really hard time coming up with a girl name.
Being on Team Green this time around (though DH is not on board for this yet ... I have some convincing to do).
Being better prepared to attempt for a natural birth.

I do stay at home (though I am very temporarily employed right now through my previous employer).
It was difficult to come to the decision to stay at home, but in the end, I felt like it was the right thing to do. We did have a "plan" that I would only be staying home for a year and then we would put Mungee in school and I would go back to work. When Mungee turned one year, however, she was still not walking and that was a condition for enrolling her (school's condition, not ours). I was also dealing with some major post-partum issues around that time, and found it very hard to get motivated.
I will need to go back to work eventually, but because I have been out of the workforce for so long, I find myself a little lost, lacking in confidence and unsure of what type of job to pursue. We will be taking on more expense when the new baby comes along, because around the same time, we will be putting Mungee in school and we will need to come up with the tuition to pay for that.
I honestly don't think that mentally I could handle being home for long after the new baby is here. I've often thought that if I knew what life was going to be like for me to stay home with Mungee I might not have quit my job. I am in no way saying that staying at home isn't right for someone else because everyone's experience is going to be different and there's really no way to predict it.

Probably how modesty goes out the window. Though I knew when it was coming back when I was nursing Mungee while she was in the NICU and I was pretty much hanging out of my dress and the male NICU doctor comes in to update me on her condition and I immediately turned 2355646 shades of red and wanted to cover up.

Thank you for sharing this experience. Honestly, I appreciate reading it.
Would you have to wait for baby #2 to be walking for him/her to go to daycare too? Or would you send him/her to a different daycare so you wouldn't have to wait another year or two to get a job? Just curious.
You're welcome. I just re-read it and I was like "Did that make any sense?"
We would not have to wait for baby #2 to be walking to send him/her to daycare. A baby can go into a daycare facility at 6 weeks old (which is too young for me personally to send them to daycare, but it's the only option for others, so to each their own).
Having to balance two kids will (obviously) be very different than having just one, so I'll see how long it takes for me to lose my mind.
My other concern is trying to find a job now while pregnant. Is that something that one should disclose in an interview?

Legally, it's not supposed to affect their hiring decision either way. But you certainly don't have to tell anyone.
My big gut might give it away

Better start lookin' soon, sister.
Really? All of the interviews I had recently asked me if I was married/had kids.
Do you think they were just trying to make the interview more personable? Or had a hidden agenda? (Persecution theorist here).

Yes, really. Illegal!
http://jobsearch.about.com/od/interviewsnetworking/a/illegalinterv.htm
Woah. I worked in HR for a few years. This is totally inappropriate, unethical, and illegal. They cannot ask you that type of information, because they can easily use that (again, not legally, but in their heads) to hire someone else without a husband/kids that would be able to give more time/effort to just their job.
