Do you think this is appropriate?

Having a sign on your door at work that says, "Come back when you have wine!"

I am Hmm this.

But maybe that is because I tend to Confused this co-worker a lot anyway.

WDYT?

Re: Do you think this is appropriate?

  • Appropriate?  No.  But do I wish I had the cajones to do that myself? Maybe a little.

(We're discouraged from closing our doors at all here, which makes it extra fun when the blabbermouth receptionist who sits outside my office is gossiping for hours at a time and ignoring the ringing phone.)

  • I think it is a little inappropriate, but I guess it depends on the atomsphere of the office.

We are a young biotech...but we're in HR!

  • Eh, it is debatable.

But if the person is annoying anyway, then stuff like that always seems extra obnoxious.

I agree with this.  In the right environment/from the right person it could be funny, but there are some people that annoy me so much that anything they do becomes irritating.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • ha ha ha ha...I was thinking "ummm Punky you work from home.  Who is this alleged co-worker?"  Then I remembered you are here!  Ha ha ha.

Anyways I don't know.  My grownup job office experience is from two small private companies where basically anything goes.  We often drank cocktails in the office while working so a sign like that would have been totally fine.

I can see people in my lab saying that to each other. I could even see certain people in our HQ saying that to other HQ members they are close with. But you'd never see a sign saying that on someone's office. But it is a university.

    ditto this!

I could totally get away with this in my office - overall I work with a young crowd and I am well-liked (at least I like to think so!).  My coworkers would just think it was funny.

That said, I probably wouldn't have a sign like that in my cube anywhere...haha..
