Cat question

On Friday my cat was barfing up all of his food :( Saturday and Sunday were better but this morning he puked again (not all of his food, but some). I don't see any hairballs, although you never know if that's the root cause.

Should I call the vet?

Re: Cat question

  • If this is unusual for him, I would call the vet just in case.

My boy kitty has a very sensitive stomach and when he eats too fast he always throws up.  I have to give him small amounts of food throughout the morning so that he doesn't totally binge on his first feeding.

  • What brand of food are you giving? There have been a bunch of recalls lately.

  • Purina One

  • Sometimes mine do this when they eat too fast.  Have you recently changed food?
  • Sunny throws up when she eats too fast and when I changed food. Not to be gross, but what is the consistency of the vomit? If its pretty solid its probably eating too fast.

I'd give it one more throw-up before I'd call. But I tend to wait on those kind of things to make sure its a real problem.

  • sometimes they throw up a lot before they finally get the hairball up. it's like they're trying to work it up. if he hadn't had the break in throwing up i'd say definitely take him in because he could be dehydrated. i think taking a watch and see approach would be okay for now as long as he is acting normal and not lethargic.
