Open House Brunch Menu Help

I'm hosting a goodbye party for some friends that are moving.  Its open-house style from 11am - 2pm on a Saturday.  Mostly adults with a few toddlers and babies.

For sure I'm doing the following:

Two kinds of quiche (one veggie and one meat) - muffin tin size so they are individual and easier to eat (I did these for a baby shower and they worked well), fruit salad, assorted breads, cheese and cracker platter

I'd also like to do some lunch type additions that don't need to be kept hot so I was thinking maybe a deli tray and a pasta salad and/or tomato mozzerella skewers.  Or I could do chicken kabobs with hummus, pita and tabouli... Or I've thought about doing a chicken salad with grapes, nuts, etc..... I'm kind of lost here with ideas but no direction.  Any suggestions for the lunch type foods?

Re: Open House Brunch Menu Help

  • I think all of your lunch ideas sound good.

If I was a guest, I'd go for the tomato/mozz skewers & chicken kabobs.  But mostly, b/c I don't like salads.  Though I once had a couscous salad that I loved during a work luncheon.

I think you also need a simple dessert... maybe 2 different kinds of cookies?

For drinks, I'd suggest coffee, iced tea, water and maybe mimoas.

  • I think kabobs and skewers are good additions for an Open House/Brunch. I like tomato/mozzerella ones. I've also made a tortellini one -- it's tortellini, artichoke hearts, green olives, and salami.

  • ceaser salad....

    a ham....

  • Sounds nice to me!

For the lunch part I would do a deli tray with some nice rolls and the tomato/mozz skewers for sure. It never hurts to have something crunchy and fast too like chips or pretzels.

  • Ham and Turkey Sandwiches on mini bun/croissants?  Love the skewer idea too.

  • Thanks for all the ideas!  I think I'm going to go with the skewers and do the tomato mozzerella, grilled chicken and veggies, and an antipasto one with salami, artichoke hearts and olives.  Those should all be easy to grab and more lunchish for those that come a little later. Plus I can skewer the night before! :)
