House in Apache Junction?
We're looking to buy a newer house, preferably in the East Valley area. There are some really cheap houses out in Apache Junction, but would I want to live out there? Thoughts?

i know a ton of people who won't live there because they have "Apache Junction" listed in their address. that said, some of the newer neighborhoods are nice. I live in Mesa; east Mesa so close to AJ. I like that better. I live in a great neighborhood, pay mesa taxes, have Gilbert schools. Best of all worlds
This is me, but because I live on the south side of the street from jj I'm stuck in the Queen Creek school district. Houses in my neighborhood are dirt cheap. AND you would get to have me and jj as neighbors!
AJ is getting better, but alas... is still know for trailer trash, white trash and most people have to have at LEAST 3 teeth missing to be a resident.
That said, yes there are nice houses out there. No, I would never live there.
It's far, far, far away from most industry so you're going to have to commute A LOT. They don't keep up their roads and a lot of them are very run down. There is a high amount of trashy people out there because the income of the city seems to be very low - and yes, they do actually live in trailers.

My parents live in East Mesa and have for over 10 years, they are looking to move. The whole area has gone downhill, but that is my opinion. There are other areas with cheaper homes, I do not suggest out there at all!!!
