How old were you when you got your ears pierced? At what age will you pierce your (possible) daughter's ears?

Never had mine pierced. Neither has my sister. I never really wanted them done. I'm not much of a jewelry kind of girl, anyway.
If my kid wanted to get her ears pierced, then she could have it done when she's old enough to make that decision for herself and handle the consequences of it. That age could vary.
Getting my ears pierced was a nightmare when I was little. I think I got them done for the first time around 6. Then they got infected and I let them grow in. I got them pierced again around 8. Again, they got in infected and I let them grow in. This process repeated like 4 times before I got them done for the last time around 13 or 14.
My experience makes me think it's crazy to do that to a baby. I remember it being so painful! I probably won't pierce my future daughter's ears until she's old enough to ask for it and take care of them herself.
I got my pierced when I was 4. I asked for them and then was traumatized. Back then they didn't do them both at the same time. The lady told me I couldn't cry. When she pierced the first one I didn't cry but when she tried to do the second one I wouldn't let her. My mom said we walked around the mall for a little bit with my one pierced ear and wouldn't go back and do the other one until my mom bribed me with a doll.
I got the second hole done when I was 12 but I don't think I took very good care of them because they got infected alot. So I ended up letting them close up.
I got M's done around 4 months. I think my own memory is what prompted it. I knew if I got them done early when she was younger then she would just always know that they were there and she wouldn't have to go through what I did. Plus it was really easy to keep the clean and turn them.
I was 19 or 20 when I got my ears pierced - don't remember how old I was, but it was definitely one of those two ages. I was a little chickensh!t about getting my ears pierced and finally caved.
I'm not sure if I'll pierce our little girl's ears, if we ever have a girl. I might just wait until she's old enough to decide.
