suggestions needed from Boston area nesties
DH and I are spending next weekend in Boston. We've been there many times but are always looking for somethign new to do.
We are staying at the Hyatt Regency ( got thru priceline).
What are some favorite Chinese restaurants near there?
Whats your favorite Italian restaurant in the North end?
What is fun to do Saturday, during the day. We've walked the freedom trail, the gardens, gone to the Aquarium, Museum of Fine arts, Newbury St,....
How about the Sam Adams tour?

If you're looking to splurge, Mamma Maria in the North End is amazing. We had dinner there once, and I think my husband still dreams of their osso bucco. Otherwise, we usually just wander around until we see some place interesting, so I never remember any of the names. I always suggest sticking to the side streets and avoiding Hanover like the plague. (Stay away from Davide, down by the wharf though - we ate there a couple of weeks ago, and it was such a terrible experience. They were just featured on Kitchen Nightmares, and let's just say the service has not improved since Gordon Ramsay paid them a visit.)
For Saturday, there's always Harvard Square. Besides wandering around there's the Museum of Natural History, which has the Glass Flowers, and the Sackler art museum. I haven't done the Sam Adams tour, but I've heard good things. Harpoon has tours as well.

I'll repeat some of what I said there. East Ocean City in Chinatown is great for a sit-down dinner. Get the salted chicken and some steamed fish. Peach Farm is also very good, but the environment is a little less nice than EOC's.
For a more casual place, Hong Kong Eatery is the best. No frills, but everything there is delicious. It's my go-to wonton noodle soup place. People seem to like Gourmet Dumpling House as it's always crowded, but personally I'm not a fan.
Do try the bakeries I mentioned in the other post, Hing Shing and Ho Yuen.
I haven't been on the Sam Adams or Harpoon Brewery tours, but I know the ladies here have recommended them before. You could go farther out from the city and check out the JFK Museum, the Peabody Essex Museum, Harvard/Harvard Square. If you like baseball, go on a Fenway tour.
The Sam Adam's tour is fun- but it is kind of in the middle of no-where and a little weird to get to. We went before we moved here (when we were just tourists) and we got a little lost on the way there. So if you wanted to make sure you had things to do before and after the tour, I would skip it and stay in Boston itself.
Limoncello is my favorite North End restaurant so far- even though we haven't been to that many places.
If you like cupcakes, you HAVE to go to Modern Pastries and get their hostess cupcake thing....(that is what I call it- I don't know if it has a more proper name lol). If you haven't been to Mike's Pasties or Modern, I would definitely hit them up. I actually prefer Modern over Mike's but Mike's is more famous, I believe.
I haven't been to Modern, but I agree that Mike's is overrated. I don't know why it's so famous, and there's always always a line! It's kind of just mediocre pastries IMO, but I'm not a big pastry person anyway.
