In 4 days, I become a MIL

Yes, my son (the "dude of honor" at my wedding) is getting married this Sunday.  Now I just have to practice being a fearsome mother-in-law.  Anyone got any good tips?  Wink

     Have fun!!!!

  • Fearsome?  Hmmm...how about annoying?  You can call and talk to each of them everyday for an hour or so.  Call randomly when you think of jokes.  Insist on weekly dinners.

Or you could just be your fabulous self :)  Have fun!

    Matt loves Munkii!!!

Or you could just be your fabulous self :)  Have fun!

Or you could bring ridiculous junk you find at discount stores/in your basement/on the side of the road over to their home every time you visit. Which should be frequently. Even if you just come in and sit there for 20 minutes and then leave. And don't ever take your coat or shoes off when you visit.

Or you could do what Munkii said! Congrats :) Have a wonderful time!

  • Call 2 days before every family gathering to make sure that "they're going to be there" and compulsively ask when they're going  to have kids.

But I agree with Munkii - just be yourself and don't be fearsome.  I would respect y MIL so much more if she let DH be a grown up without meddling.

  • Share baby pics  of your son, and share embarrassing childhood stories!!!!
  • Boy, I could think of a LOT of things you could do to become fearsome.  But, I think you have being a great MIL down w/out trying.

Congratulations and how exciting for you all!

  • I agree with just randomly and compulsivly ask when children are coming. Also tell him he was a twin then tell him he wasn't and then tell him he was again. That worked well with my MIL and the Mr.

Or just ignore all our nonsense and be awesome all on your own.

  • I thought about starting with the wedding, but I decided that I'm waiting for grandkids to become annoying.  Then, I'm going to offer to babysit and then give them food that they are NOT supposed to have (candy, soda, processed foods, etc) and toys that are going to drive their parents nuts.  It's gonna be AWESOME!!!

    Or...I'll be nice  Wink

But they won't know til it happens.....bwahahahahahah  Devil

My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!
