RFOTD

34.5 million U.S. residents claim Irish ancestry. That is 9 times the current population of Ireland.

Happy St. Patrick's day! Here's my random fact for you: If someone says "Top 'O the Mornin to ya!" You reply with "And the balance of the day to you!"

Re: RFOTD

  • I thought the reply was, "And the rest of the day to yourself!"

Funny, when I was in a pub in Ireland they had pictures of Boston all over one of the walls.  I found it hilarious since I'm Boston born and bred and here were all these photos of my hometown in a random pub all the way across the pond.  They said that it's because there are so many Irish in this city.  You wouldn't believe how many I saw wandering around in green shirts (lots of them Celtics jerseys) when I went out to get lunch today.  Of course, I do work near Faneuil Hall where a lot of the bars are Wink

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • Makes sense because a lot of Irish immigrated to the U.S. in the 1800's. More than any other group. And Ireland is much smaller than the U.S. However the ancestry that has the most representation in the U.S. is German. Something like 80% of Americans have at least a little German in their background. In the 1600's-1700's almost all of the U.S. (or what would become the U.S.) was of English background.

Sounds like it means the same thing!

I love the East Coast but have yet to make it to Boston. My cousin lives in Jamaica Plains, and my 2nd Cousin who I love just moved from Braintree to Cape Cod. I'm hoping to get to your neck of the woods soon!!

  • I wore green today, but it was totally an accident.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.
