F/U on vermiculture... a good and a bad
So the FedEx man delivered my red wigglers safe and sound yesterday! I unwrapped them and got them all snuggled into the WormHut.
The good news is my kitten appears uninterested in all this, so she's left them alone thus far. The bad news is I already have had TWO CASUALTIES! Two of the worms escaped through the air holes last night, and this morning I found them as little dried up STICKS on my kitchen floor!
What a tragic start. I hope this isn't indicative of how my whole compost project is going to go.
Re: F/U on vermiculture... a good and a bad
If you have escapees, check that they have enough bedding, and that's it's just moist (not too wet or dry).
Some of them are just suicidal, though. It's part of the joy of worm ownership.
Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
Jennybeeb - I couldn't find them locally (unless I wanted to buy a shiitload of them, lol) so I ordered them online from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm in PA.
The screen idea is exactly what I did last night!! And gave them more moisture. Thanks for the input - hopefully there'll be no more escapees. Or suicide attempts.
