F/up DH

So he went to the doctor today & the doctor is pretty much 100% certain he is fine, but is still sending him for a few tests to confirm. He has to get blood work, a brain MRI & an echocardiogram (sp?).

However, today I was online looking over my health insurance & I didn't see my husband's name listed. So I decided to call my health insurance carrier to make sure he was covered. They told me he was terminated the day of my wedding (uhm, wtf!). I flipped out. Our HR dep't sucks (something similar happened with the boss's daughter & her DH was never added to her health ins. policy). So I made sure the HR manager got on the phone with HBCBS asap to get it resolved.

In the meantime, I spoke to FIL (he worked for HBCBS & knows the CEO). He told me if there were any issues he'd make a call - so I go back into the HR manager's office & she told me I had to leave (even though she was on the phone with the insurance co. trying to find out what happened). Needless to say I was suspicious & not happy. I was also worried b/c he has to get preapproval for the MRI & the echo & I didn't want him to be denied.

Anyways, the HR manager told me it was the insurance company's mistake. I don't believe her 100%, but she says he IS covered. I will find out for sure tomorrow. I'm just not happy with the secrecy & another problem I potentially have to deal with....

Re: F/up DH

  • WOW, that really is messed up. You will probably REALLY find out once the claim summaries come to your home. You cannot believe how bad is the communication between the docs office, the insurance and HR.  I have just went through some ridiculous issues with my insurance as well, and at one point told each of the parties involved that it would really take us all 5minutes to resolve it, if they were all willing to get on the phone with one another.  Good luck and look out for that bill...
  • Ugh, insurance companies are THE WORST to deal with!  I've called mine to get my last name changed on my policy 4 times, and I still get mail with my old last name on it.  Not to mention that they still had me on my parents' plan, as well as my own through my school, until November, even though both myself and my mother had called to get me only on my own plan.  Grrr.... I hope all works out with you and everything is resolved so that your DH can get the tests that he needs!
  • Glad to hear that your dh is doing better, but that's pretty lousy of your hr/insurance. I hope you can get everything sorted for the better.
