What weird stuff were you forbidden from as a kid?
Re: Poll- stolen from MM
It's funny... my parents we so laid back in some ways and so strict in other ways. I could watch whatever I wanted to on T.V. and listen to whatever music I wanted to. I remember switching my Hooked-on-Phonics tape for Snoop Dogg at school when I was in 2nd grade. We could also have Hostess cakes and Sprite for breakfast... but no milk. According to my mom, milk would make you fat. But no saying anything "sucked", calling boys, or Play-doh for me.

I'm not sure that any of it was so weird, but...
My parents were very picky about what I could watch on TV. I remember being furious that all of my friends could watch "You Can't Do That on Television" and MTV and things like that and I was never allowed. Same with PG-13/R-rated movies before I was old enough.
I also got in trouble for saying "that sucks" or using any other "un-lady-like" language. I still to this day have never cursed in front of my parents.
I was never allowed to have boys in my room, ever, and even once I was 17+, if I went on a 'co-ed' trip, I had to sleep in a separate room or tent from the boys. (Uh yeah, that happened...)
But like allobosc said, I rode my bike to the in&out and friends' houses, walked to school, etc. and it was never a concern. It's sad that things aren't like that anymore most places.
It was more my dad than my mom, but I was not allowed to wear nail polish. I remember going to a make over party when I was in the seventh grade and coming home with nail polish on. My dad drug me into their room and took the nail polish off for me. My mom wasn't so thrilled about that, so she made him go get me some clear nail polish I could wear everyday and opaque that I could wear on special occasions. Apparently he ended up getting over that though bc about six months later, he bought my younger sister bright orange nail polish...
I was also a no MTV child, but I'm not so sure that's a bad thing. If I do let baby C watch it, I want to watch it with her so we can talk about issues that are brought up in the shows.
Our baby girl!!
I forgot about not being able to shave my legs. This is totally gross, but I had armpit hair (about 12 years old) and my mom would not let me shave!!! She finally gave in when my dad noticed it when I was reaching into the mailbox and told my mom she was being rediculous.
