Starting seeds inside

So I got one of the kits with the tray and lid and started my seeds, many of them have sprouted...some have not.  When do I take the lid off? I already recycled all the info that came with it! Thanks!

Re: Starting seeds inside

  • Are the ones that didn't come up the same kind of seeds as the ones that did come up?  If they are, I would give it another day and then take the lid off.  in my experience, if they are going to sprout, they will all sprout at about the same time.  If they are a different flower or veggie, I would just take the ones that came out of the tray and put them in a different one.  GL!

  • Some seeds need to be warmer in order to germinate (peppers). I've never used a plastic top when starting seeds inside, so I'm not help there.

If you have an old refrigerator, you can set the tray on top of that and it will provide a nice warm area that will help those other seeds germinate. Some seeds just take longer. :-)
