Re: B*tch it out

  • I usually mail our Netflix back by just sticking it in our mailbox. A few weeks ago, DH took it to work and mailed it from there. It got lost somehow and Netflix received it like 2 weeks later. He mailed our movie back from work again on Tuesday and they still haven't received it. WTH is going on with his work mailroom? Now I have to report another movie as lost in the mail and hope it eventually shows up. From now on, the movies are going back in our mailbox.

  • WTF Flea and Tick medicine! I give Pumpkin Comfortis every month religiously, yet I'm always finding ticks on her (this morning included). Same with when I gave her Frontline until we moved here and the bites messed with her allergies so we switched. Ticks completely gross me out and I feel like an awful dog parent when I find them on her. I spend a fortune on this medication, yet it doesn't seem to work! Repellent my @ss

I was wondering if everyone celebrated St. Patty's Day a little too hard!

That's a huge bummer about St. Augustine. What a waste of time, too. Did you go through all 4 interviews? Jerkfaces. Good luck with the search!

Comfortis only kills fleas not ticks. That is one of things our vet warned us of when we were thinking of switching. Since we take our dogs to run in the woods we decided against it.

Frontline doesn't kill ticks either. They're both supposed to be repellent. But I've found that neither really is.

I do have to say Pumpkin's allergies cleared up 100% when we put her on the Comfortis, but still she gets ticks every month or so on Frontline or Comfortis.

  • Ashlee, where do they go out, in your yard? Woudl you maybe be better off treating the yard for ticks? Also, our vet told us that when populations of fleas are really high (like a couple of years ago when we never got a real winter freeze to kill of the previous year's population), you may need to treat every 3 weeks.. not sure if that might be true for the tick repellent part as well.

  • I think that when she gets them now, it's from being at my IL's house. They have 3 acres of wooded, swampy area, and give the dogs free range, so I'm 99% sure she's getting them there here. In Hickory and Bloomington is was after we'd be walking on the trail, again slightly in the woods.

I need to be more diligent with checking her when she comes back from there and giving her a bath every time like I had been. She needs a hair cut, her hair is so thick that they just get in there and I can't find them! Needless to say, we're going tomorrow at 9am!

I totally didn't know you could treat your yard, I'll mention it to JJ and see if he's using tick killer in the fertilizer he uses, but he rarely fertilizes the back yard b/c the dogs are out there 24/7.

  • I know you can for fleas..... I'm thinking there's gotta be something for ticks too. I don't think it would be in the fertilizer -- it should be able to be done separately if it's the same as the flea stuff.

  • I had to be at work an hour early today so I had to get ready at the same time as H. We don't share the bathroom space very well and my whole routine was thrown off. I remembered to take my blood pressure meds after I got to work and stared feeling bad. I don't have any extra pills with me so I'm going to feel hot and have a headache all day. Yay.

  • My DH got sick this week and waited until the last minute to go to the Dr. and get antibiotics. Why do men always do that, it drives me insane!

  • I am super annoyed at people at work judging my future parenting plans.

Yes, I am going to cloth diaper and attempt to BF exclusively and try to get through labor without an epidural or augmentation. No, I would not like to hear about why I am going to inevitably fail at all three.

I get that not being a parent means that there are things I'm not prepared for, but millions of women do all three of the above things all the time.

  • Im literally Loling at "5-10 minutes pregnant"

When I was still with B I did a lot of stuff alone because he wouldnt do anything with me. It took a long time for me to start doing things by myself because I was so pissed he wouldnt do them too, but I realized I wouldnt get to anything unless I did it on my own.  I went to festivals, concerts, and shopping all by myself.  Now that Im "single" Im having to really do things alone and it sucks.  I dont have the excuse that my husband had to work, or he's not feeling well (even though those were all lies) and it makes me just want to stay home and not go.  I feel like I have to learn to be independent again even though I was pretty independent when I was married because my husband was a stick in the mud.

    It sucks.

That drives me absolutely insane.  I had a friend that was a nurse and when I was pregnant with B and told her my plans she told me that she and the other L&D nurses used to take bets on how long it would take for the moms that wanted to go natural to ask for an epidural.  She was a friend of DH's wife, and they divorced shortly before I had B, so I never got to tell her that I went 100% med-free and I reaaaaaaaaally wanted to!

Honestly, everyone telling me that the Bradley classes will make no difference and that I'm TOTALLY going to be begging for the Epidural just makes me want to go natural even more. Which is a totally healthy and well-adjusted way of looking at things, I'm sure.

I was the same way, I'm terribly stubborn :) The more they told me I couldn't do it, the more I wanted to prove them wrong.

For what it's worth, I think you can totally do it!  I did bradley classes too, so if you have any questions or just want to talk to someone, I'm here :) I'm using a doula again this time too.

I think it is so rude when people second-guess your decisions and say things aren't going to work out for you.  How the h*ll do they know?
