Taxes are so stressful with DH, because he has his own business. He knows and went to school for computers, but is not good at the book keeping part at all. But this year he got his paperwork together for himself, so I let him. He was trying to deduct a home office, and I was wondering where he got his numbers. Then he said that's what I pay you every month. Still confused, but I figured out that was the money he took from his business account to our joint account for bills, groceries, ect. Essentially he's paying himself. I tried not to laugh, but I had to explain to him in front of the accountant that being married is not a business expense or a tax write off. At least we've made some progress.
Re: Taxes with DH
Too funny!!
I remember doing our taxes the year after we got married and i was *so* excited to deduct all the stuff we paid for for the wedding! I kept all my receipts, thinking that it was a write off. My MIL clued me in that it's not and i was so upset!! I wonder if i would have curbed some of my smaller spending knowing that it wasn't a write off...hm...
And i thought i was going to be able to write off all of my school expenses and i can't!! I guess they think that if you have enough money to back to grad school full time, you don't need to write off every little last thing. That *really* pissed me off...
