Topsy Turvy Tomatoes

I have 2 tomato plants & 3 pepper plants growing in topsy turvy upside down planters on my patio. I've had them for about 20 days & they are doing GREAT and growing like crazy. All the directions & online reviews say you have to water them every day, which I have been...but I'm going on an 8 day vacation soon and I don't have anyone to water them while I'm gone. Any suggestions on how to keep them moist for a week? I've hear of those glass globe things, but I've never used them & don't know if they work.

  • My mom uses those aqua globes with hers.

  • I tried the Aqua Globes for my outdoor tomato plants when we went on vacation last year.  They work great indoors, but for my outside plants, they dried out very, very quickly.  It was late June and a lot hotter though, so you may be okay.  I would probably try the water globes and maybe soak some large sponges and put them in the top of the container as well.

Or I have seen larger homemade waterers made out of 2 liter bottles.  I would maybe try that.
