Will I get used to a touchscreen phone?
I just got the HTC incredible from Verizon a week ago. I have 14 days to return it and get a different phone if I don't like it. I just don't know if I can get used to the touchscreen! Right now I am really wishing I got one with an actual keyboard but wondering if I give it some more time if I will get more used to it?
Re: Will I get used to a touchscreen phone?
I switched the the enV Touch that had a flip out qwerty keyboard to the Incredible about 6 months ago. It took me a little bit to get adjusted to because I was so used to using the keyboard every time I sent a text. But now, I love the phone! Give it a little time and if you get close to the 14 days and still don't find yourself adjusting well, return it for one with a keypad.
Pretty much this. If I could have exchanged my phone, I would have. However, I think that texting is most affected and that's what I use my phone for 99% of the time. Also, it may be that my phone (LG Chocolate Touch) is particularly crappy - after a few months, it got extremely non-responsive to touch and it's often WAY off (I'll touch 'a' and it will put an 'x' kind of thing). If I need to enter numbers without error, I have to use DH's phone because it's so frustrating. Sometimes it works fine, but other times it takes me freaking forever to send a five-word text. I've found that it's particularly hard to use when it's very hot or cold outside, and I basically can't use it if it's raining at all. I'll definitely be going back to a phone with a real keyboard, but I do think it depends on what you use your phone for, and possibly the type of phone you have.
I keep asking myself the same question.
I have a Motorola Backflip, so it has a keyboard for texting and typing. But I still hate the touch and pause aspect of this phone. I had an LG EnV, which I loved! But switched to AT&T to join a different plan. After 6 months with a touch screen to deal with, I am super bummed to think that this is what technology is going towards. Call me old fashion but I like buttons! Dragging and tapping tiny spaces on a flat screen is enough to drive a person mad.
BUT I love having the internet on my phone and viewing web pages as web pages actually appear, not just as text. So I guess I will have to adjust... Plus BF and I are talking about purchasing a tablet over the summer. (Something tells me I will still favor the laptop by then...)
