Missing life in Bklyn with a toddler

We recently bought our first home in Selden in Suffolk County and thought it was the best thing we could have done for our son (giving him a big backyard to run around in and a better school system) Now, I am missing life in Bklyn more than I ever thought I would! I used to be able to take Aaron to the zoo, children's museums, parks, the beach, Manhattan and just regular walks around our neighborhood. I took it all for granted everything being "right around the corner"...I feel so bored and alone here. If you're a SAHM of a toddler out here, what do you do with them all day? Any suggestions are truly appreciated!!

Thanks!

Re: Missing life in Bklyn with a toddler

  • I know how you feel!  My husband and I moved from Queens to Nassau county almost three years ago and are usually alone...friends and fam rarely make the trek out here.  We've had a tough time making friends here too (our neighbors are either elderly or in their 40's with school age children).

     PS: what's a SAMH?

  • A SAHM = stay at home mom :) We've joined a few groups at the library and i'm trying to join a local moms group on meetup.com. Have you tried either of those as far as making friends? I dont know where in Nassau you are, but if you werent too far i'd say lets have a playdate! :)
