The worst sports fans in America.
What do y'all think? Agree? Disagree?
Do you think anyone got left off?

Re: Article: Worst sports fans
I don't follow any college sports so I can't speak for those but otherwise I'd say it's pretty accurate. The only fans that should've been included would be Philadelphia Flyers fans. I think Philly fans of any sport are generally horrendous.

I completely agree about Duke fans, LSU fans and Phillies fans.
I'm wondering how in the hell Alabama football fans got left off the list...the worst, by far.
Two years ago WVU football came down to play Auburn and their fans that were here were very nice and respectful. But that's my only experience with WVU so I guess I can't be a good judge.

My first thought was "I'll believe it more & find it more credible when it's from ESPN, Sporting News, etc., not GQ!"
Anyone see the LSU pic, I think the gal on the left has a bra on that's 2-3 sizes too small!
I think the list is pretty accurate - I've never dealt with any of them in real life [besides my dad's family, who's avid Philly fans - they can get down-right crazy], but I've heard horrendous things about LSU and Duke fans.
Maryland fans are way worse than the Cameron Crazies. Cameron Crazies are just creative, they do not try to physically harm anyone. However, I know there are a lot of haters, so I am not surprised to see the Crazies on the list.
Go Duke!
I think the fans started getting nicer when the coach started getting nicer! hehe. But seriously, the WVU fan base was much worse 10 years ago. That was when they used to throw things on to the fields. Some colleges (VT) never took their helmets off the whole time they were on the sidelines. After the chaos of the fires and such in the early 2000's there was a lot of disciplnary actions so the fans HAD to get a little better.
I also think that all Philly fans suck (I am one of them so no judgement
) and should be grouped together as one unit.
Ha, these are my sentiments exactly. I am a Duke fan living in Maryland and while Duke fans are passionate, they don't want to hurt people and many times people have gotten hurt at Maryland.
DH would agree with you about UW - he's an OSU fan and I'm UW and we've both spent time in the opposing team's stadium. I always told him he was imagining things...Although our fans at the Shoe were just awful. I was so embarassed.
Oregon Ducks - we had a game in their stadium and got our car pi$$ed on and smeared with chicken wings. Bottles thrown at us. I was with my parents. Their fans took our seats (they have this crazy standing room area) and their security didn't do anything about it. That was annoying and probably one of the worst game day experiences I've ever had.
My brother got peed on and squirted with ketchup and mustard packets at an Iowa game. Nice...
Anyway, fans can be nasty anywhere I think.

I didn't go to the National Championship Game but I heard similar things from a lot of friends that went about Oregon fans. That they were really, really bad..very similar to LSU and Alabama fans.
Two years ago when LSU played here we were walking out of DH's building and two fans came up to us and demanding that we let them in his building so they could use the bathroom. We told them it wasn't a public restroom but there was a public restroom about 100 feet away. When we walked away they started peeing on the door of his building.
I've always heard others telling our female students to never, ever walk around alone when at games at LSU.

Michigan State Spartans have been the rudest group of fans I have ever seen visiting Ann Arbor.
This includes being 100x worse than the Buckeyes or Badgers. Its bad when you don't feel safe wearing maize and blue in downtown Ann Arbor.
I agree with Philly fans being on the list. Can't stand when they come to NJ for hockey games.
Have to disagree with Montreal Canadiens fans being included - they're certainly enthuasiastic but every time I've encountered them they've been respectful.
Maybe Canadiens fans who live in your area and go to the games are respectful, but fans from Montreal? I don't know. The first time I ever heard people "boo" during the national anthem was during a Canadiens/Bruins playoff game in Montreal (on tv). That was far from respectful and unfortunately, some Bruins fans followed suit when the Canadiens came back to Boston. Also, the most recent crap with them calling 911 during the game to report Chara for a questionable hit and a prosecutor actually getting a warrant for his arrest....crazy. I can't wait to see how all that goes down when the Bruins head to Montreal again.
Avid Philly hockey fan here.
At least Philly fans didn't beat an opposing team's fan into a medically-induced coma

100% on LSU!! I am a BAMA fan ALWAYS have been. & While all my family lives in and around Tuscaloosa, I grew up in Texas near the Louisiana State line. I have been to many SEC games and LSU does horrible things... I have seen fans rip down the field goal post and ram it into the Florida Band TWICE! I have had people destroy flags in my yard, and constantly call and harrass. Its annoying.
As for why Bama should be on the list, in my whole life of going to games every year, I have seen one a**. He was a drunk kid running his mouth after we won the Independence Bowl against Colorado. My dad grabbed him by the collar and said '' son thats not how we act" and he walked on.
There are bad fans in every group. As much as I have been taught to hate Auburn I have only ever seen one bad seed. When the tree thing happened a group of student came to assist and Bama fans sent well wishes. Just like when the tornado tore through T-Town, Auburn immediatley assisted and sent prayers for Bama. Its a rivalry, your going to have some idiots. See you in the Iron Bowl this year, and Roll Tide!
BTW, are the trees still having brown leaves pop up? Really hope they are able to save them, and your tradition is able to continue.
