DH's 34th Birthday
My DH turned 34 yesterday. I am throwing him a little party on Saturday. He moved to my state and doesn't have any friends here yet so everyone coming to the party are my girlfriends and their SO. I am worried about entertaining everyone. Any suggestions of what we could do? We were going to have a fire pit on our patio, but I think it might rain over the weekend! Or should I not worry about ?entertaining? people and just let conversation be it? My DH is out going and easy to talk to so he isn?t shy. I am having food and drinks too. What do you think?

One fun icebreaker I have played with adults is to write down one crazy or unknown fact about your self:
Grew up on a military base in Germany, speaks conversational Portuguese, sucked their thumb until 6th grade, never have been outside of the US, was an extra in a movie...that sort or stuff.
Drop them in a hat and then you each draw one of the facts out of a hat.
Go around in a circle one by one.
When its your turn you pick someone who you think matches the fact you drew out of the hat.
If you are wrong you have to say an additional fun fact about yourself, not the one you wrote down.
After you tell that fun fact because you were wrong, then the person that matches the fun fact comes forward.
I have played this with friends I have known for years and there is something new we learn about each other every time.
Might be good to have something entertaining, even if you aren't into games. Especially if the fire pit gets rained out, it's nice to have some kind of conversation starter or item of interest. For example, a chocolate fountain, or make-your-own sundae bar, or a funny birthday cake, or put the men in charge of grilling something. Just something that makes it more interesting than a usual dinner party and puts people at ease. We always make the birthday boy/girl cut the birthday cake with a sword, just for fun. And I've found it's good to have a drinking game ready to go, just in case the party gets boring.
