Doggie stuff

Okay, we have narrowed the names down to two:

Bella or Dasher (Dash for short)

She went to the vet yesterday and was given some meds for her ticks (they are everywhere).  She played in the backyard last night and seemed pretty happy.  Granted, she is a bit needy due to her trauma - but the sweetest dog.  Lilli is hiding underneath the bed; Niles is definitely intrigued and has been keeping his distance but I am confident they will be friends soon.  The husband got up with the dog a few times in the middle of the night to comfort her (right now she is sleeping in our guest bedroom) and I guess Niles would race to the bedroom to "help" Husband comfort Dog.

She pees everywhere when she is excited which is gross. But she is so happy and I am glad that we were at the right place at the right time!

  • I'm glad she is doing better. Hopefully the ticks will go away soon. Bella is a cute dog name.

  • Dasher, I like it.

Try to be very calm around her, this may keep her more calm and less likely to urinate when she gets excited.

  • Awwww!

I like both names. Dasher seems more masculine though, so I'm voting for Bella.

    Good for you guys!

  • I like Dasher too!  Especially since we found her DASHING on I-40, poor doggie.  Yesterday when I hollered "Dasher!" at her she would run towards me.  She didn't seem to react to Bella at all.

I think DH likes Bella which is why a name hasn't been "officially" decided.  Also, he doesn't want to "get too attached" even though he carried her all around the house this morning while getting ready.  He is waiting for his wife to have a "we have had a big change and she doesn't deal well with change" breakdown. I am trying to be cool with it.

  • I think Bella is a great name for a puppy-its what I named mine when I got her in Dec. Dasher is cute too since it kind of goes along with how you all got her. Big Smile

  • Dasher for sure. And you will fall in love with her before you know it!
  • I think Dasher is super cute!

It always takes me awhile to warm up to new things - people, schedules, animals, etc etc.  It took me about five months to feel like Niles was "my" child and this is no exception.  At least DH and I are aware of my strange process.  I can't wait to SD to meet this doggie.  She loves the cats but they aren't much fun (she likes to play rough and so do they but their claws are usually out!).

  • I vote for Bella. Dasher is fitting, but it is more masculine.

I'm a bit partial to Bella though because that's what we named our newest puppy. We got her about two weeks ago.

If you're going to end up keeping her, definitely get a crate and crate train her. Then you can put her in her den and you won't need to worry about leaving her out in the house alone when you're both gone.  My boys love their crates- it's where they get their "bedtime snack" every night.
