invites: how far in advance?

How far in advance would you send out b-day invites for a 1 yr old?

I know some people I am inviting plan ahead, but I also don't want people to forget, or think the too far in advance is too formal...

I'd guess 3-4 weeks before the party.  Definitely not more than 5 weeks but I think that is kinda far in advance.

I'd say 3 weeks.  We only invited family to the party so I sent an e-mail out a couple of months ahead to check availability and then sent invites at 2 wks.

Hi!  I'd send them out 4 weeks in advance - especially in summer because it seems like every weekend there is something going on...

 Also be sure to put an "RSVP" date.  GL

Get the word out, and send them at 4 weeks. I am invited to a bridal shower on April 16th and I just got my invite 2 days ago, I thought that was kind of late.

I agree email about a month or so out so that peole can start asking for the day off, then mail an actual invite 2-3 weeks before.

Thanks everyone! I was figuring about a month, but I wanted I wanted to see everyone's opinions...I just wasn't sure

I think that it depends.  If it is close family they aready know when the LO's birthday is, so I'd say 2 to 3 weeks.  If you are inviting friends of your LO, I would go with 4 weeks as it most likely isn't on their radar.
