Parent Teacher Conferences

This is what Seth and I called it.

They had sort of an open house at school last night. They had games, a book fair, and a dinner. Parents could go into the classroom and meet with the teacher and look over their portfolio. I was SO impressed with the school. In his portfolio were assessments and photos of him doing developmental things like reaching for a toy, picking his head up while on his tummy, bearing weight on his legs. The assessments where sort of a "not evident" "developing" "evident" kind of scale. And they showed me their "curriculum" for the month. Each baby has something different to work on in each area of sensory development. Like, play peek a boo, talk to Abe from across the room to see if he knows his name and or knows your voice, work on having him reach for a toy while on his tummy.

I loved it!

  • This is great!

Not sure if it's the same, but my nieces(1yr, 3 yrs) go to a center in Augusta and my SIL has talked to parents who said through that program, their children have been more then ready and have been above average in learning when they start school!

Edit: I realize now this post sounded ridiculous haha I was trying to be elusive by not naming the center my nieces go to, but yours sounded like the same with the conferences and such. And I didn't think there were probably too many centers like that in the Augusta area.

  • Wow! That's really impressive!
  • Abe's program sounds incredible- how awesome that they are so involved in encouraging his growth and development, and tracking it so that you can see everything he accomplishes! Very cool, and can't wait to hear more about his milestones!

  • What a fantastic DC!  My mom and MIL both taught pre-school before they were retired and were shocked by teachers and DC providers who did not take detailed notes like the ones you found.  Those notes are a gold mine for parents.
