Looking for a vacation area in CT for kids, suggestions

Looking to get away with the family for a few days in the beginning of the summer.  We are from NJ, and never been to CT.  What areas are good to stay with kids and what is there to do?

Thanks for the suggestions!!

  • I'm not sure about hotels, but some things to do include Mystic Aquarium if you want to stay by the coast.  Also, there's a new science museum in downtown Hartford, and the Mark Twain House (might be boring for LO's, though), and I know Sturbridge Village on the MA/CT line isn't that far away from Hartford County.

  • I would suggest Mystic. There is a great aquarium and lots of ships. Also, there is a great children's museum in Norwalk.

  • I was going to recommend Mystic also. It has the aquarium as well as the seaport. In the summer time they have music on the boardwalk/ green downtown ( well I guess you would call it a boardwalk anyway )  and everyone gathers and dances. And to to far form that is Groton Submarine base where you can explore the Nautilus ( I think it's called ) and the best part is it's free! :-))
