When you think of typical American comfort food, what comes to mind? Even if an answer has been given, feel free to list it again.
When you think of Cajun food, what comes to mind?
Are there any food groups or items you're a fan of but do not fall into one of the above categories?
TIA!

I love food. Period. And pretty much American food could really be anything since America is a melting pot of cultures.
American comfort food: Chicken and Dumplin's; mac n cheese, fried chicken, apple pie, tuna casserole, mashed potatoes, pasta.
Cajun food: crawdads, gumbo, fried catfish, dirty rice.
I love food too! I could all day and pretty much do; I just wish I had back my early 20's metabolism to go along w/ the love of food!
American Comfort Food - Burgers, Mac n' Cheese, Low and Slow type foods like Ribs, Brisket and braises. Potato Salad and Coleslaw. Buttered corn on the cob. Chocolate chip cookies.
Cajun - Gumbo, Creole, Spicy seafood dishes, Spicy Sausages, Red Beans and Rice (??) Catfish
My not in these categories but still amazing - paella. Yum.
Cajun food: dirty rice, jambalaya, andouille sausage, catfish, crawfish, beignets,
Favorites not listed: almost all sweets, seafood (especially scallops, crab, and lobster), but pretty much everything. I like food way too much.
When you think of typical American comfort food, what comes to mind? Even if an answer has been given, feel free to list it again. Mac and Cheese!
When you think of Cajun food, what comes to mind? Jumbalaya and crawdads!

These are all excellent answers--thank you!
Now that our breakfast fundraiser is over, my committee is working on our 2nd event, which will probably be a cook-off. We did a chili cook-off last year, but I want to present other options to them since we're doing it in May when it could very well be 90. Chili and 90 don't work together in my book.
When I posed these questions to two co-workers, one shot out 5 answers while the other only gave me 1 (which is why I came here). Since you all are a diverse group of people like those in my department, I figured if you all could name a billion things, it shouldn't be too difficult for 250 people to come up with at least 3 ideas if we do a theme rather than item. We'll see.
Thanks again!
