Can I AW for a minute? (PIP)
I just finished this trivet that I was talking about in Workshop Wednesday (after I did go and get a glue gun!). I made it with wine corks and a picture frame.
It's for a gift basket (second pic) for BIL's fiance for her wedding shower on Saturday. DH says I should go into business!
Sorry for the bragging...it's spring break so I'm getting all my cool projects done this week! :-)

I bought a cheap picture frame (make sure it's not plastic...wood works great), took out the glass and hot glued the cardboard insert in to make it sturdier. Then you just glue the corks into the center of the frame in any design you want. I originally wanted to do a square one, but I was pressed for time and couldn't find a square frame I liked.
If you have to cut the corks to fit like I did, use a razor blade...it was by far the easiest way. Although I did manage to pic up the wrong side and give myself an awesome cut.
PM me if you have any more questions! It was super easy!

The trivet and the basket look great!!
If you were thinking about doing a business- an easy way to get started might be to donate a basket for an auction (at a church or a school or some other fundraiser!). My sister did a basket for a fundraiser recently, and all sorts of people came up to ask where she bought it (disclaimer: my sister is really Martha Stewart, if Martha Stewart were a married social worker with three girls).
