HI Ladies,
My hubby and I are coming to Portland next weekend for a "getaway" just us, no kiddo. So, we are staying by the airport.
Can anyone recommend things to do, places to eat (fairly casual and inexpensive) etc?
Thanks!
Amanad
Re: RI Nestie visiting Maine
The other things I can think of is for site seeing you could go to Portland Headlight. If you are in for more shopping you could also go to Freeport where the outlets are and LL Bean. In the evenings like PP said, the old port has lots of bars and also the Comedy Connection.
Sorry I am not much help either.

I also would recommend walking around Old Port. It's very charming and there are lots of little shops and restaurants. I second the Museum of Art recommendation - it's a very nice museum!
If you're staying near the airport, the mall is right around the corner and very close to the turnpike and 295. So, easy access to really anywhere. How far are you willing to travel? Old Port, Freeport, are good bets. You can also drive out to Cape Elizabeth to visit Portland Light House. There's a great restaurant along 77 called The Good Table that is fantastic.
It's a bit cold this time of year so any outside activities may be chilly.
Thanks for the Gritty's heads up!
