Melanie - MH thanks you

I made the bacon pierogies last night.  MH loved them.  Like big puffy heart love.  Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoyed them, but he was thrilled.  Ha ha.  Thanks for sharing!

One question, I almost felt like there was not enough of the "sauce".  Is that how it was for you too?  Mine barely coated the bottom of the pan and definitely did not fully cover the pierogies, but maybe it's supposed to be that way so it's not too overwhelming.  Just wanted to see if you had the same experience.

  • i made them on a sunday night, cooled and put them in the fridge and reheated monday for dinner. i thought a lot of the sauce got sucked into the pierogi dough - but now from your comment, maybe it's just not a lot of sauce and that's how cooking light gets away with making a sauce out of bacon grease "healthy!" it's easy enough to double.

    but i knew the dish was a winner just from all the flavors of it - i could tell it would have been better the first night, and we'll try that way next time.

     

  • That was the same with me for the sauce. But I thought it was because I used a bigger baking dish then they recommended

  • Oh, okay, glad you both had the same experience.  Tells me it's the way it's supposed to be.  Doesn't mean I won't add a little more next time, though. :)

     I wound up making this tonight because i was going to make something else with kielbasaa and piergories til i realized i was missing one of the main ingredients for the other recipe, OOPS

     Came out very YUMMY! I served it with kilebasa on the side
