buy existing or build...
has now become the question of the month for us.
Previously, building where we want to live has been out of our budget. However, things have transpired such that it is within reach and having no experience with the real estate process when building (and selling a property first), I am nervous and looking for information.
Anyone here build a home?

I have not built but I wanted to say good for you for having that option! That is really awesome. Hopefully someone will have some good experience to talk about.
It is my dream to someday have DH build us our "dream" home. We'll see what happens, that would be waaaay down the line, but will hopefully be a possibilty.

I have seen my parents do it both ways & they each have their perks & headaches.

Good Luck with whichever you choose! How exciting either way. I would love to build but I have heard a lot of headache can be involved with building. I would make sure you trusted the people building, got references, etc. A lot of builders try to skimp on things and try to get things done quickly. Good Luck!
