Does anyone need or want vegetable plants?

My garden went completely nuts on me this year. I planted about 40 plants carefully spaced in prime locations. Somehow I've had over 200 more plants pop up completely on their own, I'm guessing from my compost or the seeds stayed dormant from last fall's planting. Anyway, I've got about 50 mixed variety squash (can't tell them apart, zucchini, summer squash, butternut, acorn, pumpkin, watermelon) and over 100 tomatoes (roma, beefsteak, cherry, hybrid cherry/grape) and I have NO clue what's what.

I have to thin them out, weed, and replant it all this weekend. Can't wait...

WTF garden?!

Oh, and I have these under the grow light right now for my second planting of the season - ha! My parents are going to take them all back to Ohio for their garden when they visit next month. Don't think I'll be needing them...

Re: Does anyone need or want vegetable plants?

  • yikes! That's crazy. we didn't have anything reappear in our garden, too bad... The only thing I am in need of is bell peppers, because mine were all attacked by cutworms. I've got some seeds planted but none have sprouted yet and I'm starting to think they might not at all.

  • I would SO take them, but we're not closing until next week at the earliest (more likely the 4th or so), so they'd prob die in the meantime. Let me know if you have more around then? I'm so upset about potentially missing some of the growing season already!

  • okay, i'm sure we'll have more sprout up. i'm going to be getting them all out this weekend, my dad said they're going to start suffocating each other if i want too long.

you're definitely not behind, last year i got 3 growing seasons out of my garden, you should definitely get one at least.

  • Holy crap that's a lot of crop! ;) We JUST planted some stuff this past weekend or I would definitely take you up on this. We kind of have a really random variety this year. I need to find out what's eating my strawberries. My guess is birds & I'm contemplating a bb gun if the netting we bought doesn't work.

  • Wow, that's crazy! lol

I actually overstocked my garden this year otherwise I'd take some.  I'm used to just going to the nursery and gorging on plants because I container gardened until last year. This year I went and bought my standard set, then came home and realized that half of it had survived the frost so it's all jammed in there together now. Oopsie.

  • If I had any clue how to garden I would take some, but I would likely kill them all immediately :(

  • I wish we were in a house because I'd totally take them. Sad

  • If I had space between the weeds to plant, I might think about it. But I'm so not dealing with those giant weeds right now.
