Should I buy the IPAD

I am interested in buying an IPAD, but unsure as to which one I should get (16 vs 32, 3G or not)? I am planning on getting the iphone in July, but I currently have the Droid. When you buy the IPAD, do you have to also buy a data plan to get on the internet? What is the average cost?

Re: Should I buy the IPAD

  • There's a post two down from this one that will answer some of your questions.  I can only answer for what we have bought, and don't know what your needs are.  We bought a 32GB for our first iPad, thinking we would load it up with music and TV episodes, and we have done neither.  So that's what, $100 that we wasted on space we don't use.  Therefore, when we ordered the iPad 2, we only went for the 16GB.

Both of ours are wifi only, because we have iPhones that we can use in the event that we can't get any wifi service (which is rare).  If you definitely want 3G, you do have to pay for it, but you don't have to pay every month - i.e., there is no contract.  You can just activate the service when you need it, and deactivate it when you don't.  So say you wanted to take it on vacation and use 3G during it, you would only have to pay for that month.

Since you're getting iPhones, you can just use your phone when you need 3G access.  There is also a way to tether the iPad to your iPhone and use your phone's 3G access. There is a monthly fee for tethering, though, and I don't know if you have to have a contract for that or if you can activate that only when you need it.  You would have to check into that.

Enjoy all of your new Apple products!  We wonder how we ever lived without ours.  lol.
