Iko Update

The vet just called me, and the little one is doing just fine.  However, she was apparently already spayed.  When we found her this past August, we assumed she was a stray, as she wasn't microchipped, and no one responded to our ads with an accurate description of her.  We also know she wasn't part of a TNR program because her ear wasn't tipped.  Anyway, I feel really awful though.  She was obviously someone's pet, and I just put her through unnecessary surgery.  I mean, no one could find the scar, so it's not like we knew, but still, it just makes me sad.  Also, I'm mad at her previous owner for not microchipping her.  I love her to death, and I'm glad she's part of my pet family, but I would have returned her to her owner had I been able to locate him/her.

Re: Iko Update

  • aw, don't feel guilty! you did the right thing taking her in and making her apart of your family, and I think that the owners would have found you if they'd looked hard enough. she'll recover just fine from the surgery, and she won't even be mad at you afterward... I promise!

  • I'm glad to hear that she's doing ok. I agree with Mandee, don't feel guilty. You did everything that you could to try to locate her owners and when no one came forward you took her in. There is definitely nothing wrong with that.
  • I'm so glad to her she's doing ok. I agree with the other ladies, you shouldn't feel guilty!

  • Don't feel guilty at all. You were trying to do the responsible pet owner thing. I'm wondering if there's not a test they could've run, like an ultrasound or something, to notice she was already spayed?? She'll recover and be just fine.
