Decorating a conference room for work party

Does anyone have any good links or ideas on how to decorate an office conference room?

We're having a party/competitive event with about 60 invited (prob less than half will show), no budget (don't ask), and a large conference room to decorate.

It's kind of easter egg-related event, but we can't make it religious.

I don't want to make it too kid-like with balloons, streamers, etc. But I'm at a loss how to decorate. I don't mind buying some stuff out of pocket, but can't go overboard.

I have some brightly colored table runners and white tablecloths... But what else? I feel like it'll be so lame.

Re: Decorating a conference room for work party

  • What about fresh spring flowers? If there's no budget, some of the gardeners of your group may be willing to bring in a bouquet from home.
  • We don't hang anything in our conference room. We use table covers or runners. We do flowers in vases or those balloon bouquets that sit on a table, they can be fairly low key.

ETA: I've also seen balloons "floor clusters." Those are the helium balloons that "sit" on the floor held down by a weight. You could put those in the corners of the conference room. As long as you have enough space that people can walk in the room and sit without hitting them.
