Germinating seeds in Northeast
The last time I germinated seeds I did it a bit too early and they never quite made it to the garden. I ended up using seedlings from the store the last few years. I bought seeds this year for an herb garden because I thought it would be a fun project to share with my 2 y/o daughter. Any suggestions about appdroximately when to begin to germinate them, and how/when to acclimate them to the outside climate when they are ready

You need to find out what your last frost date is, but you're not far south of me (Union Co) and ours it May 10th this year. Start the seeds indoors 4-6 weeks ahead of the last frost, with plenty of light (we have a grow lite set up). Then about two weeks ahead of last frost start putting them outside for a few hours each day to harden them.
I have the Sunset Northeastern Garden Book, which I really recommend for gardening in the NE.
Which grow lights do you have and where did you get them?
