Need apartment advice from Milwaukee area Nesties

My fiance has a job interview in Milwaukee next week (which he is pretty confident about), which means he may be relocating to that area ahead of our June 18 wedding. We are both living around St. Louis right now, so advice on where to live and how much we should expect to spend on rent would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Need apartment advice from Milwaukee area Nesties

  • Depending on where his job is and how much you want to experience Milwaukee as a young couple puts you in a few different areas. The "Eastside" is the trendiest area closest to downtown. Rent here runs anywhere from $700-1500 depending on how nice your apartment is. The perks of living here right after moving are you are right next to all the restaurants, festivals and downtown. There is ALWAYS something to do. Most couples start here and work their way out to the suburbs after a couple of years of fun.
  • I lived on the Eastside for 6 years and cannot agree more with the first reply! While there are a lot of college students that live in that area, especially the closer you get to the UW campus, there are a lot of great places near Sendiks on Downer (my favorite deli and grocery store!). I absolutely recommend the Eastside and look forward to a time when my hubby and I will move back there! Good luck with everything and if you need advice on anything in that area..let me know!
