E-readers? What is better?
I am wanting to purchase a Kindle, but is it better than the others out there? I want to be able to read it everywhere, so outside in the sunlight is definitely what it needs to be able to do without a huge glare.
I am pretty much deciding between the Kindle or the Nook...also, are you able to get any free books from anywhere?
Re: E-readers? What is better?
The Kindle is great for reading in the sun. It's just like reading a book. The other E-Readers I've seen have a huge glare kind of like some computer monitors/laptop screens.
The Kindle has some free books, but I haven't paid more than $9.99 for a book.
I love my nook - I am not a fan of the kindle AT ALL.
Best Buy has both on display so you can feel them both and see which you prefer. Seems everyone who has one or the other prefers theirs; so they're probably pretty darn close. (You def want to compare the reg nook, not nook color.)

My library and the Library of Philadelphia ($15/yr for non-residents) have a decent e-book selection, so I download a lot there. I haven't paid for many e-books. I also share with friends.

The new NookColor is an awesome device but if you want something for reading outside I would recommend the original Nook. I've had mine for 2 years now and love it. Best part is on the original Nook you can shop for books anywhere because it has 3G built in to the price so you're not paying for it monthly.
I've used it a lot on hikes because my hubby is a photo bug and once he finds a subject he could stay there for a good 20 min! lol It has a great battery life on the original and I've never had an issue with glare. Plus you have the added bonus that most cities have a B & N if something goes wrong with your Nook.
Love my kindle!!

I have a Kindle and I'm in love with it. The Kindles use E ink which makes it much easier on the eyes. (The Nook Color, in contrast, uses a LCD screen, the same technology on a cell phone screen) It's basically the same technology ink jet printers use, but the ink isn't put on the page permanently, so it is like reading an actual book. Due to this, there is no glare when reading in the sun (which is awesome for me; I always had trouble reading paper books in the sun because the paper was too bright). The battery life is amazing. I read a lot and it lasts for over a month. I have the Kindle 3 (wifi only) and it is awesome.
Amazon has a large library with free books (thousands of titles), but I will admit that most of them are published independently or are out-of-copyright titles (e.g., Pride and Prejudice, Dracula). A lot of the free promotional titles, books that they offer for free to drum up interest, tend to be romance novels, so if that is your thing, lucky you! However, this lack of free titles doesn't really mean that you don't have any options. Amazon recently enabled lending between Kindle users. Not all books are eligible, it's up to the publisher. A site has already popped up to allowed you to lend anonymously to people you don't know: lendle.me
In short, Kindles are awesome and could give you everything you need.
